We are Jamila Martin, Shaffwan Ahmed, and Evan Major. We are local residents, business owners, parents, and pet lovers. We’re passionate about civic engagement and a better quality of life for the hard working people of this community. We have spent many years organizing campaigns, building civic leadership, and making systems work for the people they serve.
We have heard and seen too many examples of our leadership failing to act with a shared vision, with an accurate or expansive understanding of the issues, or with systematic and meaningful engagement of the community.

We’re starting this effort because we want to collaborate on visionary solutions, build new relationships with our neighbors, and develop accountable leadership for our city. We believe the path forward will be paved with the participation of ALL segments of our community, and want to have an organization where we can model the cooperation, compassion, and commitment that is so desperately needed.

We hope this survey can be a tool to develop a platform of issues that best represents the broadest cross section of our community. As responses come in, we'll share the results with you.
We also hope to foster a space for residents to come together, learn together, and work together to support leadership that will create a better future for all of us. As the city council and mayoral elections get closer, we'll share information about the candidates and the issues, and invite residents to participate in ongoing conversations about the issues and electing leaders that support our collective vision for our city.
In future elections, we will use the same data and follow the same process for the school board and district court.
